Religion.

As an Atheist, it is hard for me to look at this from a religious standpoint. All I know is that everyone should have the freedom to practice their own religion. Thinking about how the government of a country can single and attempt to eliminate a race is mind-blowing. Think about an entire country singling a group of people, especially living in America, and saying you can’t live here. This literally puts me in owe.

The Strategic Standpoint

As much as I don’t want to say it, it was extremely smart and strategic of the Indian Government to attack on that day. Unfortunately, they should have kept it more secret, because it is what caused the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The Indian Government did not expect a retaliation of this caliber from the Sikhs, but it also caused a lot of panic among Indians against the Sikh People.

My Thoughts

This was something that was hard to write about for me. I was extremely surprised that something so sinister could of happened in a place of such peace. I know Gandhi would have been extremely angry with his people for doing such horrid things only because they were a different religion. Also, the fact that the Indian Government attacked on the special day for Sikhs when they knew it was the special day makes this story especially chilling.
